Alaska Resources
Alaska is one of the two states that is not bordered by another US state (Hawaii being the other). It is the only state that is both in North America and not part of the 48 contiguous states; about 500 miles (800 kilometers) of Canadian territory separate Alaska from Washington. (It is thus an exclave.) It is also the only state in which the majority of citizenry must pass through a foreign country when driving to its capital city. (Alaska's capital, Juneau, is accessible only via ship or air. There are no roads leading in or out of Juneau.) Alaska is the largest state in the United States in terms of land area, 570,374 square miles.
